COVID-19: All Training Programs FAQs

General

Updated 29 April 2020

What happening with my training during this period?

The College encourages trainees and supervisors to continue training and assessments as normal wherever possible. We understand that there may need be adjustments to accommodate this unprecedented environment.

Trainees will be given a six-month extension within their training program for deadlines within the 2020 training year. The extension effectively defers examinations, most program requirements, courses, ATM requirements, APSSs, and other assessments. Where specific training requirements cannot be met, waivers may be considered and arrangements put in place. Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for specific program details.

We are working on mechanisms for delivering online learning options and we encourage you to maintain your study and ongoing education during this time. It’s in your interest to complete what you can online.

Will the six-month extension increase my time in training?

No. The intention is not to extend your training program, it is simply to allow time to complete requirements during this time of uncertainty.

Which due dates will be extended by six months?

Due date which fall between 23 March and 23 September 2020 will have a six-month extension applied.
As at 29/04/2020

I already have a previously-approved extension, so what happens now?

If the new (extended) deadline falls between 23 March and 23 September 2020 then this will be extended by a further six months. Trainees can continue to work towards meeting requirements before the new extended due dates wherever possible.

I have heard that some district/state health authorities may suspend or alter registrar training rotations for part or all of semester two 2020.

I have heard that some district/state health authorities may suspend or alter registrar training rotations for part or all of semester two 2020. This change could impact my ability to meet mandatory Basic Training requirements such as rural, tertiary, or peripheral training time. What should I do?

The College is aware that some training rotations may be affected by a changes to health authority and/or training site requirements. We are working on arrangements to help minimise the impact where possible.

Trainees are reassured that time in approved training posts continue to be able to be credited (subject to the usual conditions i.e. submission and approval of a Prospective Approval form with relevant supporting documentation)

I sent my logbook to my State or Territory office and I am waiting for it to be signed off? Can I complete the PVP while I am waiting?

Trainees can apply for and start completing the PVP while waiting for their logbook to be signed off.

What evidence do I need to complete the online PVP application form?

You will need to attach the following to your online PVP application form:
  • A copy of an email from the States/Regions or CWH/Diploma programs stating that your logbook is currently under review.

If I am yet to submit my logbook to my State or Territory office is there a deadline for me to do so?

You must submit your logbook as soon as possible.

How do I receive a PVP certificate of completion?

You will need to upload a Letter of Participation in the PVP course of CLIMATE before you can receive a PVP Certificate of Completion. This should be uploaded, at the latest, by 6 May 2020.

I have been advised that my logbook is not complete/missing requirements. Am I still able to receive a PVP Certificate of Completion?

No, you will not receive a PVP Certificate of Completion.

Am I able to get a refund for the PVP?

No refunds will be given to participants who are unable to upload a Letter of Participation in the PVP course of CLIMATE and subsequently, unable to complete the PVP.
