RANZCOG welcomes funding for endometriosis
This media release was published on 25 March 2022
RANZCOG welcomes today’s announcement by Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison of ongoing funding for the Australian Endometriosis Guideline, and further measures to improve the health outcomes of people suffering from endometriosis.
RANZCOG has been working with the Federal Government to secure funding for maintenance of the Australian Endometriosis Guideline so it can continue to reflect up-to-date clinical evidence.
Today’s announcement will help RANZCOG integrate emerging data regarding endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain from longitudinal research on current diagnostic and treatment strategies.
This work aligns with the Federal Government’s National Action Plan for Endometriosis, to ensure that high-quality international and local research is translated into clinical practice.
RANZCOG President Dr Benjamin Bopp said: “RANZCOG acknowledges the ongoing commitment of the Federal Government in assisting the College to continue with education and support for the endometriosis community and our members.”
Funding for endometriosis clinics, treatment and education
RANZCOG welcomes the suite of measures to improve the health outcomes of people suffering from endometriosis, also announced by the Federal Government today. “These measures will help to improve the quality of life for Australians with suspected and confirmed endometriosis now, and into the future,” Dr Bopp said.
Background
In 2021, RANZCOG published the first Australian clinical guideline on the diagnosis and management of endometriosis, funded by the Australian government.
