RANZCOG supports changes to codeine scheduling

13 October 2017

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) strongly supports the decision made by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to change access to painkillers containing codeine to prescription-only from February 2018. The Council of Presidents of Medical Colleges (CPMC) has released a statement on ensuring strict codeine regulations, which notes that all specialist Medical Colleges are concerned to ensure strict regulation is placed on access to codeine.
