The College is currently looking for new members to join the O&G Magazine Advisory Group. The group welcomes diversity, different perspectives, experiences and fresh ideas. There are some exciting developments in the pipeline for O&G Magazine, so if you’d like to get involved with evolving the publication – please get in touch!

About O&G Magazine

Focusing on a central theme each issue, O&G Magazine delivers informative and engaging articles about obstetrics and gynaecology, as well as College news and topics. The publication encourages the free flow of ideas, information and debate among the membership of the College and the broader community involved in women’s healthcare.

Four issues are published each year in March (Autumn), June (Winter), September (Spring) and December (Summer).

What does being a member of O&G Magazine Advisory Group involve?

The primary role of the advisory group is to guide the direction of O&G Magazine and to contribute to the planning and completion of four annual editions. This commitment requires attending quarterly meetings, selecting the different themes and planning content for each edition, including topics and suitable authors for commissioned articles. The advisory members are responsible for approaching and sourcing authors, plus taking it in turns to fulfill the role of Lead Editor for an edition of the magazine. This requires reviewing submissions with full support from the magazine’s Senior Publications Coordinator.

Reflections from a long-term O&G Magazine Advisory Group member:

“This is the most stimulating and exciting college committee to be part of. Together, we brainstorm ideas and decide on the themes for each issue of the magazine, plan specific articles and divide up the job of approaching experts to actually write the pieces. There is a degree of time pressure to meet deadlines, and you may need to contact people you know only by recommendation or reputation, but most are keen to contribute. We try to obtain input from around Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand and consider perspectives from different professional groups and consumers. If you love communicating, thinking broadly and pushing yourself to commission work from others, this may be the group for you!” – Dr Jenny Dowd, Victorian RANZCOG Councillor & member of O&G Magazine Advisory Group
