This news item is a duplicate of the email sent to registered candidates for the June FRANZCOG oral examination:

It is with deep regret that RANZCOG wishes to advise the delay of the June FRANZCOG online oral examination to 28 August 2022.”

The College Examination team is currently experiencing short term operational challenges, resulting in the RANZCOG Board to make this difficult decision, to ensure examination candidates have a high-quality and professionally delivered examination experience. Underlying this is the College’s commitment to the integrity of examinations, and delivering them in a fair, robust and reliable way. Delaying this examination will provide time for the College to recruit, onboard and train new staff.

The College’s first priority is the health and wellbeing of our trainees and staff. We acknowledge the significant distress and anger this rescheduling will cause. We recognise candidates have dedicated so much time to preparing for this exam, and the change may put you in an unexpectedly difficult position. We are very aware that many candidates plan their lives and work around examination dates. It is likely that the new date may not suit some candidates.

We sincerely apologise. The College is committed to supporting all affected candidates through this challenging time.

What is the College doing?

Tomorrow, Tuesday 5 April 2022, you will receive an email that will include a link to a form that will ask you to confirm your preference for continuing to be considered for the 28 August 2022 examination. We ask that this form be completed by COB Thursday 7 April 2022. Should you requite further time to consider your position, email assessment@ranzcog.edu.au.

All registered candidates will be notified by Monday 11 April 2022 as to whether they have been successful in obtaining a place for the FRANZCOG Online Oral Examination to be held on 28 August 2022.

Please note, the College will transition back to a face-to-face examination for the October Oral Examination, which will remain at the existing scheduled date of 16 October 2022. Face-to face examinations allow for a greater number of candidates to sit the exam. Should the August date not be suitable for you, or you are not granted a place for the August examination you may wish to apply for the October examination.

Registrations for the 16 October 2022 face-to-face FRANZCOG Oral Examination will be delayed, allowing time to inform all potential candidates of the change of delivery format. Registration will now open on 19 April 2022 and will close on 17 May 2022.

The College is also in dialogue with the Australian Medical Council, the Medical Council of New Zealand and the Australian Medical Association about the delay of the FRANZCOG Oral Examination, and is open to having discussions regarding strengthening contingency planning for exams.

Please contact the team at assessment@ranzcog.edu.au if you have any concerns or wish to discuss the matter further.
