RANZCOG celebrates World Thrombosis Day

13 October 2017

RANZCOG today acknowledges World Thrombosis Day. Thrombosis, also known as blood clots, is the formation of blood clots in the artery or vein. 1 in 4 deaths worldwide are related to thrombosis, and roughly 10 million cases of Venous thromboembolism (VTE) occur each year. The likelihood of thrombosis increases during pregnancy and the postpartum period with VTE contributing to maternal morbidity and mortality.
