Self Collect HPV Screening Audit

The Self-collected HPV test audit report is produced monthly and the dataset is the patients that the participating doctors has referred to their local Sonic Healthcare laboratory in the three months prior.

The monthly report includes four patient categories with associated recommended follow up:

Category 1. Patients who tested positive for HPV (16 /18) in the previous month (3rd month of the dataset).
Action: Review medical patient record to confirm that patient is referred for colposcopy. (REC 6.4)

Category 2. Patients whose test returned an unsatisfactory HPV DNA result in the previous month 3rd month of the dataset).
Action: Review medical patient record to confirm that patient is recalled for a repeat sample. (REC 4.1 and REC 4.3)

Category 3. Patients who tested positive for HPV (not 16/18) in the month 3 months prior and a follow LBC has not been received at the same testing laboratory in the subsequent two months.
Action: Review patient’s medical record to confirm that patient is recalled for a clinician-collected LBC sample if recommended (routine REC 6.8), or referred for colposcopy if patient meets any of the following criteria on the 12 month follow up (REC 6.12):

were overdue for screening by at least 2 years at the time of their initial positive oncogenic HPV (not 16/18) test result

identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

Category 4. Patients who tested positive for HPV (not 16/18) in the month 3 months prior and a follow LBC has been received at the same testing laboratory in the subsequent two months.

LBC follow-up rate for patients who are HPV (not-16/18) positive in the first month of the interval of report.
