The Victorian Government has launched public fertility care services.

The services will help up to 4,000 Victorians every year, according to the Victorian Government. Monash Health and The Royal Women’s Hospital will deliver the services, which will include intrauterine insemination, in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles, including counselling, information and support.

The initiative was announced in the Victorian Budget 2021/22 in May 2021.

RANZCOG President Dr Benjamin Bopp said: “Infertility can be a difficult and confronting experience. Services such as these will further improve access to IVF services for Victorian families.

“The College acknowledges the commitment and dedication of all its members – both in the public and private sectors – in helping patients make informed decisions on the IVF journey, and looks forward to working with them, the Victorian Government and families on this positive step.”

A dedicated webpage on health.vic.gov.au provides information about the program and eligibility criteria.
