This 4 hour online course will introduce you to basic concepts that are required to understand Māori/Indigenous health.

In “Introduction to Māori Health” you will learn about:

  • Traditional and contemporary Māori society
  • The context that led to the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi and what the Treaty of Waitangi includes
  • The process of colonisation and how this relates to Māori health
  • The concept of equity and the relationship to Indigenous rights
  • The difference between cultural competency and cultural safety
  • Racism as a determinant of health and how you can be anti-racist.
