The Fellowship of RANZCOG training program is the sole pathway to specialist qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

About the program

The FRANZCOG training program involves 276 weeks (six years) of hospital-based training and assessment. Training is divided into two components: 184 weeks (four years) of Basic Training, followed by an additional 92 weeks (two years) of Advanced Training.

The FRANZCOG Training Program will allocate trainees to an Integrated Training Program (ITP), comprising accredited hospitals, typically including both a tertiary and a rural facility.

All selection fees are payable in Australian dollars (AUD), and are not subject to Australian GST.

All training and examination fees are payable in Australian dollars (AUD), and are not subject to Australian GST.

Trainees are required to pay an Annual Training Fee (ATF) by 31 January. A payment plan of four instalments is available on application. Trainees experiencing financial difficulty may also apply for a reduction to their ATF or the Trainee in Financial Difficulty Bursary.

Recently elevated Fellows will pay their annual renewal fees on a pro-rata basis in the first year.

Fellows’ pro-rata fee is calculated to cover membership period from the Fellowship date to the remainder of the financial year. A full Annual Subscription fee will be charged from the next financial year.
