About

Two travelling scholarships established in 2026 to support FRANZCOG Trainees undertake some of their training in low- or middle-income countries, and the south Pacific region.

The scholarship funds are provided by RANZCOG and are administered through the RANZCOG Women’s Health Foundation.

The scholarships are intended to:
• provide perspectives on clinical care issues beyond the scope of usual training.
• support the delivery of RANZCOG’s philanthropic initiatives in global health.

The College recognises that having an opportunity to train in countries with limited medical services in different health systems can provide valuable and rewarding experiences for trainees, as well as the participating communities and health services.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Global Health Travelling Scholarship for RANZCOG Advanced Trainees, applicants must:

be a citizen of Aotearoa New Zealand or Australia

be an advanced RANZCOG Trainee

be undertaking a minimum of 24 weeks of training in a country that either:

  • has a maternal mortality ratio exceeding 100 per 100,000 live births; or
  • is located within the south Pacific region.

have prospective approval of training in the eligible country

not have received this scholarship before

review and acknowledge the Child and Vulnerable People Safeguarding Policy.
