Mary Elizabeth Courier research scholarship


The Mary Elizabeth Courier Research Scholarship was established in 2008 by the generous bequest of Auguste John Courier, dedicated to the memory of his late wife. As per the specific instructions of the bequest, the scholarship is to be used for research into cancer amongst women; one or both of cancer of the cervix and cancer of the uterus.


To be eligible for the Mary Elizabeth Courier Research Scholarship, applicants must be:

Undertaking research into cancer of the cervix and/or uterus;

Undertaking their research study in a hospital, university department or research institute in Australia
or New Zealand;

Medical graduates within five (5) years of the award of a Masters or PhD;

Resident in Australia or New Zealand.

Number of scholarships

1 award of AUD$40,000 per annum for 1, 2 or 3 years (up to $120,000 in total).
