This Service Provider Specialist position will suit a newly qualified or experienced Consultant or a current Private Practice consultant and we will consider part time or full time consulting requests.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG)
  • Experience in clinical O&G care for elective and emergency cases
  • Able to treat women within a range of models of maternity care, in collaboration with relevant members of the multidisciplinary team and in a supportive and respectful manner.

About you

We are looking for obstetrics and gynaecology consultants who would be comfortable working in a smaller provincial hospitals and will make a positive contribution to the existing Obstetrics and Gynaecology team.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • FRANZCOG or equivalent post graduate qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, or eligible for same
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate, or eligible for it
  • Colposcopy training

About the role

You will join a specialist team providing secondary level Obstetrics and Gynaecology services and will share a strong commitment to delivering high quality health care for women and their families. Participation is expected in the 1:4 on call roster, routine obstetrics, routine gynaecology and colposcopy clinics including some outreach clinics.

There are approximately 1,000 births per year in the Nelson region and 500 in Marlborough. The maternity service and gynaecology services work closely together, as part of the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board. There is also a close relationship with two tertiary providers, Wellington and Christchurch Hospital's which are close by.

Salary for these positions will be the range of $161,304 - $240,000 (as per the current senior medical and dental officer collective agreement) dependent on skills, experience and gaining full vocational registration in NZ. You will also have access to up-to 10 days and a $16,000 allowance to put towards your continued medical education.

ADHB Gynaecological Oncology is the largest of the 3 Gynaecological Oncology Cancer Centres in New Zealand, with of catchment population of 2.3 million, providing tertiary gynaecological oncology services to ADHB, CMDHB, WDHB, Northland, Bay of Plenty, Lakes DHB, Tairawhiti and Waikato DHBs. It hosts the supraregional MDM which receives over 1000 referrals per year.

This is a fixed-term position, full-time, you will be working in a busy department, currently providing surgical clinical care for approximately 500 new cancers annually.

The role will be based at Auckland District Health Board Auckland City Hospital and Green Lane sites, with potential outreach clinics.

Key duties will include:

  • To collaborate and work to maintain Gynaecological Oncology services in line with strategic requirements.
  • Provide, with the other Consultants in the specialty, routine and emergency Gynaecological Oncology services to the region, operating a system of cover for annual, study and professional leave.
  • Provide a consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties in the DHB
  • Provide a preinvasive service (colposcopy and vulval clinics).
  • Provide collegial support within the department and manage the workload collectively as a team
  • To take responsibility for the professional supervision and appraisal of junior medical staff, in conjunction with colleagues.

The ideal person should:

  • Have current New Zealand Medical Council registration or be eligible to obtain NZMC Registration
  • Hold a sub specialist qualification in Gynaecological Oncology
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be a team player
  • Be motivated and willing to contribute to a busy unit

The Consultant - Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for the Goldfields provides leadership and delivers excellent clinical performance in the area of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The hospital provides a good general case load and duties reflective of a teaching hospital, but in a regional setting. You will assist with participation in the on call roster along with other specialists and general practitioners.

GP Obstetrician
Mount Gambier – South Australia

Hawkins Medical Clinic is a large general practice serving a population of around 30,000 in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, Mount Gambier is the largest town in the area.

The Clinic is seeking a GP Obstetrician to provide on-call obstetric services as part of a 24/7 roster with other local obstetric GPs.

General practice consulting by the GP Obstetrician can be as flexible as required and negotiated up to full-time to suit the right applicant.

A generous remuneration package is available for the successful candidate. Local specialist support (two O&G plus registrar) is available. There are over 500 births per year.

The Practice
The clinic is a purpose built practice offering a wide range of general practice services and is well supported by administration and nursing staff. The largest GP Practice in Mount Gambier, the clinic has a long history of providing training to students, interns and registrars.

The local hospital is staffed by resident doctors (SMOs) and resident specialists (Surgery, Orthopaedics, O&G, Physicians, Psychiatrist, Opthalmologists and Anaesthetists) in addition to many visiting specialists.

The Community
Mount Gambier is equidistant (430km) between Adelaide and Melbourne. Daily flights to both enable convenient access to metropolitan areas. Local industries include viticulture, forestry, commercial fishery, agriculture and tourism. Close to the Coonawarra wine region.
