Updates to the RANZCOG CPD program in 2024

Please note that this page details ALL of the updated requirements that will apply to the RANZCOG CPD program for 2024. 

CPD for cultural safety, health inequities, professionalism and ethics — all Fellows (and CPD affiliates from 2024)

What is this new requirement?

There is no set number of hours for engagement in these areas during 2024; however, when preparing your professional development plan (PDP), engagement in these activities should include opportunities for reflection on your own biases and attitudes, to help you understand how these can impact patient care

Please follow the relevant link below for further information on CPD activities that can support you. 

Who will need to complete this new requirement from 2024?

All Fellows (and CPD affiliates from 2024)

Evidence of completion of activities must be uploaded to your CPD portal

Completion of any activities that align to any of these areas can be tracked on your CPD dashboard

CPD for bullying, discrimination and sexual harassment — RANZCOG Board/Council Members/Committee Chairs and Training Supervisors

What is this new requirement?

Mandatory completion of the Operating with Respect eLearning module developed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), or an equivalent training program

Who will need to complete this new requirement from 2024?

RANZCOG Board/Council Members/Committee Chairs — every two years

Completion of the Operating with Respect module will be uploaded to your CPD portal and tracked on your CPD dashboard

RANZCOG Training Supervisors — every three years

Completion of the Operating with Respect module will be uploaded to your CPD portal and tracked on your CPD dashboard

Evidence of completion of an equivalent training program must be uploaded to your CPD portal

What constitutes an equivalent training program?

An equivalent training program must include education in the following areas:

What constitutes a respectful workplace?

Acceptable standards of professional behaviour in a healthcare setting  

Identifying unacceptable behaviour in healthcare

Impact of unacceptable behaviour on individuals, team performance and patient safety  

Intervention strategies and responses to unacceptable behaviours  

Recognising and managing stressors that may contribute to unacceptable behaviour

Exercising professional responsibility to speak up when exposed to unacceptable behaviours  

Locating personal and shared support resources to assist with addressing unacceptable behaviours in the workplace

CPD for cultural safety training — RANZCOG Board/Council Members/Committee Chairs and Training Supervisors

What is this new requirement?

Mandatory completion of one of the following training programs:

Introduction to Cultural Safety (Australia) — online program developed by the Australian Indigenous Doctor’s Association (AIDA)

Cultural Safety Training Program (Australia) — developed by AIDA

Application of Hui Process/Meihana Model to Clinical Practice (Aotearoa New Zealand)

Employer cultural safety programs

Who will need to complete this new requirement from 2024?

RANZCOG Board/Council Members/Committee Chairs — every two years

RANZCOG Training Supervisors — every three years
