Southern Cross allows claims for phone and video consultations

23 March 2020

New Zealand’s largest provider of private healthcare provider, Southern Cross, has announced that, in efforts to minimise the risk of transmission to COVID-19, they will be allowing claims by Affiliated Providers for specialist consultations to be undertaken by video and phone. This aligns with the guidance issued by RANZCOG.
The College applauds this initiative and urges other providers and the New Zealand Government to introduce similar measures to reduce face to face consultations for the protection of health care workers and patients.
