RANZCOG has welcomed the release of Aotearoa New Zealand’s first Women’s Health Strategy developed by Manatū Hauora Ministry of Health.

RANZCOG President-Elect Dr Gill Gibson said: “This strategy is a significant achievement and something many have been calling for.”

“As doctors who focus on women’s health, we are thrilled to finally have a women’s health strategy which guides creating a health system that works for women. The next step is the development and implementation of actions that create progress towards this vision.”

RANZCOG Aotearoa New Zealand committee Te Kāhui Oranga ō Nuku Chair Dr Sue Fleming said: “It is great to see that the strategy reflects some of the themes that emerged from RANZCOG’s 2022 Flourish Women+ Health Summit, which brought together a wide range of people focused on women’s health. We now have a clear vision for a life-course approach to women’s heath that addresses economic and social determinants of health, focuses on prevention as well as treatment, and is whanau centric.”
