Mandatory reporting to the Chief Medical Officer – Survey for Colposcopists

25 November 2016

The Department of Health is currently establishing a National Cancer Screening Register (the Register) to support the renewal of the National Cervical Screening Program. The new Register is planned to go live 1 May 2017, which will coincide with the introduction of new MBS items for HPV testing and LBC tests.
Under the National Cancer Screening Register Act 2016 (NCSR Act), from 1 May 2017, colposcopists will be required to report prescribed information to the Chief Medical Officer through the Register.
A brief survey has been developed by the Department of Health seeking colposcopists’ views on mandatory reporting to the Register and planned methods for collection and transmission of colposcopy data. Survey results will assist the Department of Health in the development of the Rules under the NCSR Act and the development of the Register. Members are invited to take part in this online survey before 6 January 2016.
