Joint statements on standards of quality care for mothers and newborns

Four joint statements, and associated guidelines, were endorsed by health care professional associations at the launch of Network for Improving Quality Care for Maternal and Child Health. These joint statements are in support of the World Health Organization’s updated recommendations on standards of quality care for mothers and newborns, and associated guidelines on the following:
  • Improving Quality of Maternal and Newborn Care in Low- and Middle-Income Countries
  • International WHO Recommendations on Interventions to Improve Preterm Birth Outcomes
  • International Policy Statement for Universal Use of Kangaroo Mother Care for Preterm and Low Birth weight Infants
  • Managing possible serious bacterial infection in young infants 0–59 days old when referral is not feasible

RANZCOG urges all practitioners to heed the advice issued by RANZCOG and ATAGI which recommends that pregnant women are routinely offered Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccine at any stage of pregnancy.
