It is with great excitement that we invite you to the 2022 RANZCOG Annual Scientific Meeting to be held as a hybrid conference, at the Gold Coast Convention Centre 10-12 October 2022.

Behind the all-consuming wave that has been COVID-19 there has been a swell of exciting innovations, new ways of thinking and practicing, and learnings about ourselves as practitioners, and as people. And so, for the first time in 3 years, we have the opportunity for a face to face conference. The chance to meet again in person as colleagues and friends. To talk about what inspires and excites us, to share a meal and focus on ourselves as people, and what we have learnt to help us weather this storm – and those yet to come.

The world, the women who we treat and care for, and we as a profession are in a process of transformation.”

We sit at the precipice of an opportunity to shape the future of care for the women of Australia. And so this conference will focus on ‘Making Waves’. How can we be better? How can we think differently, and how is our profession evolving?

Our extraordinary speakers.

Our guest speakers are people who, in their own right, have made waves and led changes in collective thought within their fields.

Nobel Laureate, Dr Denis Mukwege needs no introduction. He is the founder of Panzi Hospital in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a flagship treatment facility for survivors of sexual violence; a world-renowned gynaecologist, inspiring advocate for womens rights and healthcare, and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize 2018.

Dr Jeanne Conroy. Current President of FIGO with wisdom to share from decades of experience of both caring for women, and succeeding as a woman in leadership and advocacy, when one has to forge their own path.

Dr Nancy Chescheir is a powerhouse of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the US. Former Editor-in-Chief of the Green Journal, she also spearheaded the Green Journal podcast, and was at the forefront of a new way to make research and innovation more accessible to the profession.

Through the three days we will discuss issues of gender identity and how to approach this in the consultation space, and the rising prevalence of gender based violence and our unique role in screening for and addressing it. We try to demystify the role of genetics in fertility, prenatal diagnosis and gynaecological malignancy. The intersection of O+G and the media; how this can work against us and how to make it work for you in private practice. We delve into how better to provide pregnancy loss care, and focus on perinatal mental health. Speakers will present on a range of innovations from prenatal neural tube defect repair to fertility preservation in gynaecological cancer. Breakfast sessions will provide small group opportunities to brush up on your ultrasound skills and knowledge, walk a roadmap to establishing private practice, and have close access to some eminent speakers in their field. Workshops will focus on practical skills including vulval pathology and biopsy, complex obstetrics and second stage troubleshooting.

The sunny Gold Coast plays host to our conference and promises to live up to its reputation of laid back charm, excellent weather, and a whole lot of Sunshine State cheer. The GC offers access to beaches and the Hinterland, with Theme Parks and Wildlife Centres which will keep all members of the family entertained during conference hours.

So set the date because we can’t wait to welcome you, and together Make Some Waves, in October!
