Feedback invited - Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA) Special Access Scheme (SAS) and Authorised Prescriber (AP) Scheme

02 March 2017

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is currently working to implement changes to the Special Access Scheme (SAS) and the Authorised Prescriber (AP) Scheme.  These changes arose out the recent Review of Medicines and Medical Devices Regulation; and are designed to ensure that:
  • patients can access unapproved therapeutic goods in a timely manner;
  • there is a reduction in regulatory burden for health professionals seeking unapproved therapeutic goods for their patients; and
  • the integrity of the schemes is maintained by undertaking monitoring and compliance to ensure they are being used appropriately.
As part of this work, the TGA is undertaking public consultation on some changes to policy for these schemes. If you have any feedback you wish to contribute, please go direct to the TGA website to submit your comments.

Feedback may be submitted until 5pm on 29 March 2017.
