RANZCOG Supports Queensland Abortion Law Reforms

19 October 2018

RANZCOG supports the Queensland Government legislative reforms that have decriminalised termination of pregnancy and approved safe access zones around termination and fertility clinics.

When termination of pregnancy services are not available or difficult to access; maternal morbidity and mortality increases. The removal of these legal barriers enables early access which is particularly important in cases where the pregnancy is a risk to the woman’s health.

RANZCOG continues to be a strong advocate for women’s health and believes that providing healthcare options that respect choice is fundamental to promoting best outcomes for women, their families and the community.
