Joint RANZCOG/ACM Announcement: Ebola Information

28 April 2016

This notification is released jointly by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) and the Australian College of Midwives (ACM).

With Australian Healthcare workers now participating in Ebola treatment in vulnerable areas of Africa, there is a small possibility that women may be exposed to Ebola infection in pregnancy.

Public Health England has produced information for healthcare professionals on Ebola and pregnancy. It includes links to clinical guidance and an algorithm on the care of individuals with Ebola. Information about infection prevention and control can be found here.

Please refer to the Australian Government website for up-to-date information here: http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/Content/ohp-ebola.htm

The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US has produced information for breastfeeding women who have Ebola.

We would like to acknowledge the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) for providing these links for distribution.
