Annual Structured Conversation | The Annual Conversation is a structured conversation undertaken with a peer, colleague or employer about your clinical practice, it provides time for you to reflect on your development needs and goals for learning and professional activities as outlined in the PDP. The Annual Conversation is mandatory for all Fellows and CPD participants who hold an MCNZ registration. Professional Development Plan | All CPD program participants, including those in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand must complete a Professional Development Plan (PDP) under the Performance Review (PR) domain every CPD cycle. The PDP is a plan of your development requirements based on reflection of your practice and assessment of your skills, knowledge and educational needs. Program-level Requirements | From 2025, the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) requires all CPD Homes to include specific ‘program-level requirements’ to ensure safe, inclusive, and ethical healthcare. These requirements apply to medical practitioners in both Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. RANZCOG supports CPD participants with guidance, resources, and activity options to meet these obligations. The MBA’s program-level requirements focus on four key aspects, collectively known as CAPE:
What This Means for 2025 RANZCOG has prioritised the following aspects for 2025:
Medical practitioners must complete 2 hours of CPD activities in each focus area, either through one extended activity or several smaller ones. Specialist High-Level Requirements | All obstetrics and gynaecology specialists must complete an in-person Basic Life Support (BLS) program every two years starting in 2025. Profiles: Fellows
Rural, Regional or Remote Fellow
O&G consultant working full-time in a rural, regional or remote area, often as the sole O&G specialist in the region.
Locum Doctor - Fellow
Semi-retired from their clinical practice or hospital and now works as a locum O&G specialist, filling temporary positions across various hospitals in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
Doctor (Fellow) in Academia
Works in an O&G academia; no longer practices clinically but is involved in teaching and clinical research at a large university.
Semi-Retired Fellow
Semi-retired from their practice or hospital and now participates in College activities as well as other activities in reduced frequency and/or capacity.
Private Practicing Fellow
O&G specialist working in their own private practice, either solely or with other O&G Specialists.
GP (Urban Hubs) - Shared Care
GP Obstetrician working in a metropolitan clinic and is involved in Shared Care Practice.
New Fellow
Recently elevated Fellow of RANZCOG working in a large hospital.
O&G Specialist in a large tertiary hospital
Semi-retired from their clinical practice or hospital and now working as a locum O&G specialist, filling temporary positions across various hospitals in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
