The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Health pages are a resource to support RANZCOG Fellows, Diplomates and trainees in their care of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in rural, remote and metropolitan areas of Australia.


RANZCOG Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women's Health Committee

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women's Health Committee (A&TSI WHC) was established in July 2009, as a committee which submits recommendations and reports directly to the RANZCOG Council and Board.

Functions and Responsibilities of the A&TSI WHC include:

  • Acts as an advocate for and provides advice to RANZCOG Council with regard to matters relating to the health and welfare of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women
  • Promotes and facilitates culturally acceptable and ethical research in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s health
  • Supports and develops educational programs and resources for health professionals in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s health
  • Provides information for RANZCOG constituents on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s health
  • Facilitates educational opportunities for RANZCOG Fellows and members as it relates to their care of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in both remote and urban areas in Australia
  • Liaises with other medical colleges, societies and professional bodies in matters of common interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s health
