Honours & Awards

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) bestows honours and awards on individuals who have contributed to the work of the College and/or women’s health more broadly. All nominations are considered by the College Honours Committee and awarded by the RANZCOG Board.

Nominations may be submitted throughout the year; following receipt of nomination documentation, the nomination shall be considered at the next meetings of the Honours Committee and RANZCOG Board. Nominations should, where possible, be kept confidential from the nominated individual.

The Criteria for Awards (PDF) provides a summary of the individual honours and awards, as well as the specific eligibility criteria and associated processes for conferring each honour and award.

Call for Nominations

Nominations for the following awards may be made to the RANZCOG Honours and Awards Committee and the RANZCOG Board:

  • Honorary Fellowship
  • RANZCOG Excellence in Women's Health Award
  • Distinguished Service Medal
  • Distinguished Service Award
  • Conspicuous Service Medal
  • Conspicuous Service Award

Process for Nominations

Nominations should be made and seconded by Fellows and/or Diplomates of the College in a generic manner whereby; a specific Award or Honour is not suggested by the nominator within the nomination. A nomination should clearly stipulate the contributions the individual or group has made in the area of women’s health. 

Nominations are received via the College’s website, addressed to the Chair, Honours Committee. All nominations must be completed with a citation of the nominee provided.

Nomination Deadlines

To align with scheduled meetings of the Honours Committee and RANZCOG Board, nominations must be received at College House by the following specified times:

  • 6 March 2019 for consideration in late-March 2019
  • 10 July 2019 for consideration in late-July 2019
  • 30 October 2019 for consideration in mid-November 2019
