The Obstetrics & Gynaecology Unit is the largest provider of women’s health services in Victoria. In 2018, Monash Health cared for nearly 10,000 births.

As a Senior Registrar you will have the opportunity to complete your specialty training or embark upon subspecialty training or advanced (higher degree) research. We pride ourselves on being able to develop each SR position to suit the individual needs of each successful appointee, with the added flexibility of changing the clinical experiences of the post as the year progresses and your requirements change. Working within small consultant-led teams provides you with the opportunity for structured feedback and career guidance as well as enabling supervised enhancement of teaching and mentoring skills. The position can include advanced laparoscopic surgery, high risk obstetrics, OG ultrasound, colposcopy, urogynaecology, gynae-oncology, reproductive endocrinology, general gynaecology and materno-fetal medicine.

Monash Health is a recognised academic leader in obstetrics and gynaecology with outstanding opportunities for basic and clinical research.

We have 8 positions available as Obstetrics & Gynaecology Senior Registrars commencing Monday 3rd February 2020 to 31st January 2021.  Sites can include Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital and Casey Hospitals.  All positions are accredited for advanced post membership training for FRANZCOG.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview via email after the closing date.  Interviews are scheduled to take place on Wednesday 31st July from 5.00pm at Monash Medical Centre, 246 Clayton Road, Clayton.

1st Round Offers for all major hospitals within Victoria will be made on Friday 2nd August 2019 for all O&G Senior Registrar positions.  Applicants will have until Close of Business (1700) on Monday 5th August to 'accept or decline' any offers they have received.  As a result, 2nd round offers are to be made following this.

Advanced (FRANZCOG Training Program Year 5 & 6)

Applications are now open to RANZCOG trainees for the Alan Ferrier Memorial Fellowship at North Shore Private Hospital, the Mater Hospital North Sydney and Royal North Shore Hospital.


The position would suit a RANZCOG accredited trainee in their 5th or 6th year. The position is consistent with the Advanced Fellowship Generalist Stream and the Fellow will have exposure to general and sub specialist surgery, ultrasound, urogynaecology, public obstetrics and gynaecology, menopause, management of vulval disorders, management of pharmacotherapy in pregnancy and lactation, and IVF.


Opportunities also exist for teaching, research and attendance at scientific meetings. The Fellow will be expected to attend Department meetings and contribute to the overtime roster at Royal North Shore Hospital. Previous Fellows have also had the opportunity to cover private consulting rooms and assist with robotic surgery. Salary, terms and conditions are commensurate with STP funding levels.
